Mike Draeken

Mike Draeken advises growth-oriented companies on how to structure insurance programs that protect their balance sheet as the business scales. He works primarily with consumer products, technology, manufacturing, real estate, and financial services companies—from early stage through IPO—partnering most often with CFOs, founders, and CEOs who need clarity around risk while driving growth. 

Mike brings 32 years of combined experience across financial services and insurance, including 13 years as a commercial banker focused on technology companies from early stage through upper middle market. That background gives him a practical command of financial statements, cash flow, capitalization, and the expectations of venture capital and private equity stakeholders. He applies that lens to risk management, helping companies present complex risks clearly to underwriters and design programs that align with their risk appetite.

His work spans management liability, cyber, E&O, complex casualty, M&A, product recall, property and casualty, and IPO readiness. He regularly structures loss-sensitive programs, captives, and supply-chain solutions to close coverage gaps, improve cost efficiency, and create long-term stability.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from California State University, Chico. Outside of work, he is active in youth sports coaching, serves on nonprofit boards, and enjoys hunting, fishing, and following the Denver Broncos.
